As an ex-admin of a huge meme group and a designer, I found a bunch of relatable/insightful moments in the book “Steal Like an Artist” and I’d like to share a few excerpts from it

So simple yet effective, I often forget the things I saved, and get baffled by when I see them again.
Copying is about reverse engineering. It’s like a mechanic taking apart a car to see how it works. Don’t just steal the style, steal the thinking behind the style
I think it’s good to have a lot of projects going at once so you can bounce between them. When you get sick of one project, move over to another, and when you’re sick of that one, move back to the project you left.
This is a good reflection of how I work. I always have a lot on my plate. Sometimes a bit too much. But it allows me to switch my context.
Take time to mess around. Get lost. Wander. You never know where it’s going to lead you.

If you’re worried about giving your secrets away, you can share your dots without connecting them. I like this. Often I am afraid of sharing, for it to be stolen after.. No one cares I think now, but still you can share only a snippet without sharing the big picture
The following is about giving positive feedback, and saving feedback to yourself
The important thing is that you show your appreciation without expecting anything in return, and that you get new work out of the appreciation.
It’s a tremendous boost when people say nice things about our work.
That’s why I put every really nice e-mail I get in a special folder. (Nasty e-mails get deleted immediately.) When those dark days roll around and I need a boost, I open that folder and read through a couple e-mails.
